Im a great believer in adding personality into everything you do and your wedding should be no different. Adding the little touches can make a huge difference and provide talking points for your guests and help create a more relaxing atmosphere as you and your partner shine out from the hidden gems. Below are a few ideas that don’t cost a fortune but can make such a big difference. After all your big day is all about the two of you so why shouldn’t your venue, decorations and catering reflect it!
1 – Photos of family weddings – This is a beautiful way to involve many generations of the same family, providing numerous talking points as your relatives coo over memories and your friends laugth at the dodgy hair styles. If your grandparents can’t be at your wedding what better way to have them share your day than a photo of them on their special day taking pride of place amongst your parents photo and even great grandparents. I love old wedding photos, especially admiring the beautiful dresses and changing fashions.
2 – Unique place names – Move away from the boring, soul-less table numbers and choose something that reflects yours and your partners shared loves. This can be anything from a shared hobby, to your favourite music, favourite films, places you have been or places you want to go. Tie in your table plan and decorative place names to reflect your chosen names. Photo taken by Two-D Photography
3 – Introduce your menu – I stumbled across this idea as I was browsing for inspiration and I think its brilliant! Make menus for your guests and let them know where all the ingredients are sourced from, why not shout about the fact your meat has come from the local farm or the eggs for your cakes are from your Granddads chicken coup. You can go as detailed as you want and you will probably need the help of your caterer.
4 – Design your own welcome drinks – Every guest looks forward to the welcome drinks (the first of many drinks of the day) so it should be memorable. Why not create your own cocktail and serve them from large glass dispensers (these are my absolute favourite summer wedding item). Or brew your own alcohol, get creative with your flavours, why not try making elderberry gin? or brewing flavoured ciders. This is definitely a job your future husband can get stuck into.
5 – Chalk Board Messages – Last but not least my all time favourite way to add character into your wedding is through chalk boards. The possibilities are endless; from creative itineraries for the day, to providing directions, to adding cheeky messages, chalk boards provide a blank canvas on which to let your creativity flow. (Plus we have them for hire ;-)) Why not use an A -frame at your entrance for a welcome message to your guests and then on the back as they leave taxi numbers to help them get home. On the dance floor encourage bad dancing from your guests and help them relax.
I hope this inspires you?
How will you be personalising your big day?
