Picnics-Let’s talk picnics, I bloody love them. There is something about an array of food, being outside and sitting on the floor that just excites me! As kids we used to have lounge picnics when the weather wasn’t great inside, complete with a blanket and cushions. Today we went to the beach and of course had a picnic! Over the past 3 months I have never had so many picnics, inside, in the garden, up hills, next to the river. Every time we go out Devon thinks we are going for a picnic. Multi Tasking- At the moment I feel I am wearing

Multi Tasking-At the moment I feel I am wearing lots of hats. Designing dried flower creations, providing The Stay Home Picnic, working on my current couples and still trying to book future couples, moving the Glam Garage (cross fingers finally complete this week, well Glam Garage Storage anyway.) and being a pretty much full time mum! Never have we ever spent so much one on one time together and whilst it had been absolutely amazing to watch her develop and grow so much. My ability to work has definitely taken a pounding. I have had serious mum guilt about trying to work whilst she is around, feeling like she is neglected and worried about the amount of screen time. This must be such a confusing time for a 2year old that I have tried to give her my everything. So honestly I am running a little behind in everything The White Emporium, so if you are waiting for an invoice or design plan from me they will be with you as soon as possible.Loving this flag from @thewhitecottageedit its on my new homes list! Today-Today I stepped inside a wedding venue @crockwellweddings and what a beautiful venue it was. It was almost like the past few months had never happened, like I had never been away, but yet at the same time bitter sweet as Crockwell should be packed full of laughter and memory making at this time of year.I was off delivering lots of brass candle sticks for Crockwells new branding video. The brass candle stick has to be one of my most popular hire item but it just doesn’t get old. Hoops! I have added a couple of dried flower hoops to my Etsy store. This is Huacachina! Inspired by the only oasis in South America, the warmth of the red and yellows bounces off the stony tones of the oats, pampas and dried gyp. As you climb high on the sand dunes the oasis below loses its definition and the colours blur in the heat haze. A creeping willow hoop with tendrils that curl from the flowers, creating visual tricks that pleasingly distort the traditional curve of the hoop. Finished with silk ribbon.The hoops never last long on Etsy so if you have fallen in love you had better move fast.Im trying not to get to excited about the house move but I have created a large willow hoop that I envision taking centre stage behind the dining table! It’s Fri-yay!Being self employed and working in the wedding industry Friday has kind of lost that ‘ relax and breath’ moment. But now I have no idea what day it is, days have blurred into weeks which have blurred into months. June has turned into winter and today I set my alarm for the first time today in months and it felt weird!!!! I did get to do a little styling today when I setup a socially distanced bell tent party which you can see more of in my stories. This isn’t quite what I had planned 4 months ago when I was thinking of this weekend and how it was going to be one of the busiest wedding weekends of the year. Sending my couples that should have been saying I do this weekend all the love! I can guarantee one thing, when it does happen it is going to be amazing!!! What’s everyone got planned this weekend? What I miss-I am missing styled shoots soooo much! The creativity it brings, the chance to bounce ideas of others, to explore new styling trends to be around fellow suppliers who on a wedding day we wouldn’t usually see. Styled shoots are an outlet for those ideas that are in your head that haunt you in your sleep and make you feel like you will explode if you don’t get them into action! I can’t wait to get back creating magic hopefully in a few weeks time. I’ve pondered this post all day. Is my page righ

I’ve pondered this post all day. Is my page right for such topics, who am I to be adding my thoughts, will I get it wrong? But silence only adds to the problem. The truth- As a white woman living in the UK I don’t fully appreciate how privileged I am. Previously the term ‘white privilege’ has always got my back up. Who is anyone to judge what I have or haven’t been through, do white people not know suffering? But these past few days I have really explored these thoughts and ideas. I do not know what it feels like to be instantly negatively judged based on the colour of my skin, to have to fight every day to be seen as equal, to be scared of passing the police and that’s because I am white. I’ve been introduced to a series of black influencers and educators, some I have followed for a while some only recently. I couldn’t understand why they seem annoyed at all the new followers they have acquired. But then I can’t relate to the lives they have been living, how they have been working tirelessly for years to be heard & it has taken someone’s death to do this. It is no longer a case of black people fighting alone to be heard. We all need to stand together to change the way we are educated, the way the media presents us, the inner workings of the establishments that have existed for so long. Just because I do not consider myself racist does not mean the world I live in is not racist. People are angry and rightly so. We need to give them the space and the platforms to be angry. There is no justification for what happened to George Floyd, the policemen’s actions can not be defended. I do not condone violence, but this anger is something I can never truly appreciate as I will never experience it as a white woman. We can not let the establishment make more of the anger than of the act that caused it. Physical power can be stopped, it can be suppressed but in today’s world the power of words and our voices is our strength. We can be heard through our arguments, we can rally support and most importantly we can educate. If this post makes one person relook at their inner thoughts than it is a post well written. Read more, listen more & stand up for what’s right.

I miss your face-There’s so much I miss right now- but most of all I miss a good hug. I didn’t realise how physical I was until now. I saw one of my besties yesterday from a socially acceptable distance and it was just weird. All I wanted to do was hug here and our parting felt awkward as how do you leave without a hug?Also the moment when you forget the 2m rule when asking someone you don’t know a question and then spend so much time apologising whilst running away from them! This is me-I can’t write that without instantly breaking out into full on The Greatest Showman!Anyhow this is me! The gal boss behind The White Emporium, captured last week by @nikkismoments On a Face Time Photoshoot. (I know right, who knew such a thing existed 2 months ago!). She captured me doing what I love, getting creative! Over the past month my business has evolved slightly to offer more hands on creative projects. Don’t be fooled by Bojo the Government schemes don’t support everyone. I’m not bitter, I’m not after a sympathy point I just want to explain my need to slightly adapt. Weddings are currently on hold and unfortunately none of us know how long for so I can’t get out to venues and style so I have returned to what I do best and that is be physically creative!My what a god send it has been to be able to immerse myself in a little project to have those few moments of brain escapism as all you are focused on is the work in front of you. May is mental health awareness month so it only seems right to highlight the power of being creative. Being self employed and a small business owner is hard. Mentally harder than I ever thought it would be. I am my own worst critic, I beat myself up all the time and it can sometimes feel like you are the only person who understands (and don’t even get me started on what Instagram can do it me)! CV-19 has made everything feel much more raw, I go from feeling like I can conquer the world to the lowest low all in a day. So being creative is a fantastic outlet, whether it’s mood boards, physical hands on styling, sign writing, sketching or my new dried flowers. In that moment when all your focus is on the task in hand it is impossible to think of anything negative. It is pure joyous escapism!!!
