Cheers-⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Today is our anniversary, 8 years married! 8 years ago the best day of my life was the catalyst for starting this crazy little business. Yes my girls being born were amazing days but they were accompanied by a lot of pain and delusion, my wedding day is hands down the best day, the day I would love to relive again. Theres a few things I wish I had done differently, I would hire a videographer, I would have our speeches recorded, you think you will remember what’s said but when you are so living in the moment the words end up escaping you. I wish we had made sure someone saved us some of our wedding cakes, we had 3 and they were so good we didn’t actually get to try them all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Most importantly I wish someone like me had been around, I was a complete DIY bride but on the day of the wedding I couldn’t be around to finish the final touches, putting out place names, putting everything outside that we had to move indoors to protect from the rain and deer, styling the cake and drinks tables and making sure that everything looked 100% perfect. The Why-@theflowerstory tagged me in this post earlier and I had to share. It made me smile as it’s reminded me why I do what I do and also helped quell that nagging thought at the back of my head that I’m rubbish at what I do. (This isn’t me hunting for a pick me up, it’s just the reality of running a creative small biz).Since coming back from maternity leave and entering school holidays the juggle of mum and business seems a little daunting. As I am about to start sewing cushion covers at 8.30 on a Saturday night Part of me has wondered if something a little more routined and structured would make my life easier. Then this image pops up and I know I am where I am meant to be doing what I love. Helping couples navigate through the choices and overwhelm to bring their visions to life, to give them that once in a lifetime day that they will never want to forget and to do it with calmness and love. This is definitely one of my favourite flower colour combinations from last year. It just looked so impactful. What’s my favourite? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I got asked the other day what my favourite type of venue was, weather it was a tipi, a barn, country manor, a sail cloth? The answer is… I don’t have a favourite. I love variety, I love that I get to work in many different locations. I love spaces that can be a blank canvas, where we can work to put your own personal stamp on the space. The only thing I’m not a fan of is a patterned carpet and luckily I don’t have to work with many of those. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀This year I’m booked to style tipis, big vast barns, stretch tents on private land, a ruined church and each one will be completely unique!
